Central and southwest Texas are experiencing catastrophic flooding due to relentless heavy rainfall.
Over 16 inches of rain have fallen in some areas since Monday, with additional rainfall of 4 to 8 inches expected through Thursday.

Impact & Risks

The flooding has led to over 75 water rescues statewide, with 36 rescues in Uvalde County alone. Major rivers and creeks are at or near flood stage, posing significant risks to residents and infrastructure. Urban areas, roads, and homes are at risk of inundation, particularly along the US 90 corridor west of San Antonio. The saturated ground increases the likelihood of rapid runoff, exacerbating the flooding. While no fatalities have been reported, the situation remains critical, with potential for record-breaking flood levels.
