Heavy rain has triggered catastrophic flooding across Texas, particularly in areas still recovering from last year’s devastating floods.
According to NBC News, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported a 'large and deadly flood wave' moving through the Guadalupe River, which rose by over 30 feet in some locations.

Impact & Risks

The flooding has already claimed two lives, including one person swept away while driving and another whose mobile home was carried off its foundation. Hundreds of residents have been displaced, with many forced to evacuate to higher ground. The Guadalupe River’s rapid rise has turned streets into torrents, isolating communities like Uvalde and cutting off access routes. Wildlife rescue operations have also been affected, with enclosures destroyed and animals evacuated. While the floodwaters have not reached last year’s record levels, the widespread damage to infrastructure and businesses is significant, particularly in towns still rebuilding from previous disasters.
