US · Published Jul 16, 2026
South Texas is experiencing significant flooding due to heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving up to 16 inches of rain as of Wednesday morning (Source time: Wed, 15 Jul 2026 12:01:43 GMT).
The National Weather Service has warned of continued storms that could bring an additional foot of rain, particularly in areas west of San Antonio.

Impact & Risks

The flooding poses a significant risk to residents in Uvalde County, Boerne, and other areas west of San Antonio. Rising rivers and creeks, including the Leona River, have led to mandatory evacuations and stranded motorists. High-water rescues have been conducted, with at least 25 rescues reported in Uvalde County alone. The Cibolo Creek in Boerne has risen 19 feet above its usual level, creating life-threatening conditions. The hilly terrain in the region increases the vulnerability to flash flooding, and further rainfall could exacerbate the situation.
