Low-pressure system brings heavy rainfall to Coastal Andhra Pradesh

A low-pressure system over South Chhattisgarh and its neighbourhood is causing widespread rainfall across Andhra Pradesh.
Many areas in North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh received heavy to very heavy rainfall on 11 September, marking a significant change after a dry start to the Southwest Monsoon season.

Impact & Risks

Heavy rainfall has led to waterlogging in low-lying areas of Vijayawada, causing traffic disruptions and inconvenience to residents. While Visakhapatnam experienced moderate rainfall without flooding, the rain has brought relief from the heat. The rainfall activity is concentrated in districts such as West Godavari and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, with isolated heavy rainfall expected to continue. Residents in affected areas should remain cautious of potential flooding and waterlogging.
