The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for areas south and east of Washington, D.C., including Stafford, Charles, Calvert, and St.
Mary’s counties, until 10 p.m.

Impact & Risks

The primary risks include damaging wind gusts of 55 to 70 mph, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning. There is also a slight risk of tornadoes, particularly in areas along and east of Interstate 95. Flash flooding may occur in localized areas where storms repeatedly pass over the same locations. Residents in the affected areas should remain vigilant and prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
