A prolonged stretch of severe weather continues to impact regions from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic, with thunderstorms, heavy rain, and flash flooding posing significant risks.
The National Weather Service has issued flood watches for areas including West Virginia, southeast Ohio, and northeast Kentucky through Monday evening.

Impact & Risks

The ongoing storms have led to significant flooding, particularly in Indiana, where seven fatalities have been reported, including a cyclist who fell into a collapsed road. High water levels and flash flooding remain a concern in areas under flood watches, with rivers cresting and infrastructure damage reported. Over 106,000 utility customers in Indiana are still without power, down from a peak of 300,000. Communities across the Midwest and mid-Atlantic are at risk of further damage from heavy rains and potential severe storms.
