• Cyclone Arnab, classified as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm, is advancing towards the Andhra Pradesh coast with landfall expected near Yanam during the forenoon of October
• The cyclone, currently centred over the west-central Bay of Bengal, is causing heavy rainfall in south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh, with isolated extremely heavy spells. Rainfall is also spreading inland to northeast Telangana, east Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh, where moderate to heavy rain with isolated very heavy spells is anticipated. Meanwhile, rainfall activity is decreasing over Tamil Nadu and Kerala, though scattered showers may still occur in eastern and central India. The cyclone's movement and associated weather systems are being closely monitored.

Impact & Risks

The cyclone poses a significant risk to coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, where extremely heavy rainfall may lead to flooding and waterlogging. Inland regions such as northeast Telangana, east Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh may also experience heavy rain, potentially disrupting daily activities and transportation. Coastal areas may face strong winds and rough sea conditions, increasing the risk for fishermen and maritime operations. Reduced rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Kerala may provide some relief, but scattered showers could still impact local activities.
