Fires persist in Southern Georgia despite rain
Southern Georgia is grappling with significant wildfires that continue to burn despite recent rainfall. The Brantley County fire, which has destroyed over 80 homes across approximately 35 square miles, is now 32% contained, marking an improvement from 6% due to weekend rainfall that slowed the fire and allowed for expanded containment lines. A larger wildfire in Clinch and Echols counties has charred over 50 square miles near the Georgia-Florida border and is 23% contained.
