Unprecedented heatwave shatters records across the U.S
The United States recently experienced a record-breaking March heatwave, with average temperatures soaring 9.35°F above the 20th-century norm. This unprecedented heat shattered over 19,800 daily temperature records and established monthly heat records in over 2,000 locations, marking it as the most abnormally hot month in 132 years of recorded history for the continental U.S. The NOAA and Climate Central have highlighted the role of human-induced climate change in exacerbating the intensity of this heatwave, compounded by the driest January-to-March period on record. This has raised significant concerns about water availability and its impact on agriculture.
