Federal aid approved after severe winter storms
President Donald Trump has approved a disaster declaration for Oregon following severe winter storms that brought record rainfall, flooding, landslides, and mudslides to eight counties. This declaration, facilitated by FEMA, allows individuals, nonprofits, and government bodies to access federal aid for recovery. The storms left over 300,000 residents without electricity, shut down major roads, and tragically resulted in a fatality in Yamhill County. Governor Tina Kotek initially requested this declaration in February, estimating damages exceeding $15 million.
