Aurora borealis may be visible in US
This weekend, skywatchers in the northern United States have a unique opportunity to witness the aurora borealis, or northern lights. A large coronal hole in the sun's atmosphere has released high-speed solar winds, which are expected to reach Earth on April 17 and 18. This event could trigger a moderate (G2) geomagnetic storm, potentially causing minor radio blackouts but also enhancing the visibility of the auroras. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts that the auroras may be visible as far south as Idaho and New York, offering a rare treat for those in these regions.
