Late Spring Snowstorm Hits Denver and Wyoming

A late-season snowstorm has swept across the Rocky Mountains, bringing significant snowfall to areas north of Denver and southeastern Wyoming.
According to AP News, Fort Collins, Colorado experienced heavy snow throughout the day, although the ground was too warm for substantial accumulation.
Boulder could see up to a foot of snow, while Denver might receive up to 8 inches.

Why It's Important?

The storm has caused hazardous road conditions, especially at higher elevations, prompting advisories for cautious driving and extra travel time. The sudden temperature drop also raises the risk of frostbite and hypothermia, urging residents to dress warmly and limit outdoor exposure. Despite the disruption, the snowfall is welcomed by some as it may alleviate drought conditions by contributing to soil moisture and streamflow. However, experts caution that a single storm cannot fully reverse a prolonged drought.
