Heavy snow and strong winds are expected
A winter storm warning is currently in effect for the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades. Forecasters predict heavy snowfall and strong winds. Snow accumulations are expected to reach between 4 to 8 inches above 4000 feet, with locally higher amounts along the Cascade crest. The wind could gust as high as 45 mph, which would contribute to challenging travel conditions. Below 4000 feet, lighter snowfall is anticipated along major routes such as US 97, US 26, and US 20. The steady snowfall observed this morning is expected to transition into snow showers by the afternoon.
