Risk of flash flooding, damaging winds up to 70 mph, large hail, and possible tornadoes.
Residents advised to stay informed, avoid flooded areas, and secure outdoor items.
Persistent storms cause flood watch issuance
A flood watch is currently in effect for multiple counties in Illinois and northwest Indiana as persistent storms are expected to continue through late Wednesday night. The National Weather Service has issued warnings regarding multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, potentially leading to flash flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage. Midway Airport reports overcast conditions with a temperature of 66°F (19°C), while O'Hare International Airport indicates similar conditions at 63°F (17°C). Elevated soil moisture from recent rainfall significantly increases the risk of flash flooding.
