On Thursday evening, a severe tornado struck southeastern Enid, Oklahoma, resulting in widespread destruction and the leveling of numerous homes. Meteorologist Damon Lane characterized it as the most powerful storm in Oklahoma in recent memory, describing it as a 'worst-case scenario.' The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado's path across Enid towards Fairmont, noting significant damage despite its weakening rotation. The tornado was on the ground for approximately 40 minutes, and a severe thunderstorm watch remains active for northeast Oklahoma and surrounding states. Residents are cautioned about potential wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail measuring up to 1.5 inches in diameter.
