South Carolina lifts Red Flag Fire Alert for 25 counties due to improved conditions.
Alert remains active in Richland County and westward due to ongoing dry, windy conditions.
Residents advised against outdoor burning and must notify SCFC if burning is necessary.
Red Flag Fire Alert rescinded for some
The South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC) has rescinded the Red Flag Fire Alert for 25 counties after initially issuing it statewide. However, the alert remains in effect for Richland County and adjacent western regions due to persistent dry and windy conditions that heighten the risk of wildfires, with Barnwell County marking the southernmost area under this alert. Although the eastern part of the state is no longer under the alert, authorities caution against outdoor burning due to unstable conditions. Residents planning any outdoor burning must inform the SCFC and comply with all safety regulations as required by state law.
