Exacerbated by unusually high March temperatures reaching 90°F (32°C) and critically low snowpack levels, the situation is the most extreme Colorado has seen in over two decades for the month of April. Major cities such as Denver and Aurora have already put in place early water restrictions, urging residents to cut back on outdoor water use, particularly for lawns.
