A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Indonesia early Thursday, triggering a tsunami alert and causing damage. The epicenter was located approximately 79 miles west-northwest of Ternate. The quake resulted in building damage and at least one reported death. Following the initial quake, more than 28 aftershocks were recorded, with magnitudes reaching up to 6.1.
