Florida expands wildfire program due to drought
Florida has expanded its wildfire mitigation program in response to increasing drought concerns. The program, known as 'Wildfire Prepared,' is managed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) and offers recognition for homeowners and builders who take steps to reduce wildfire risks. Nearly 80% of Florida is experiencing extreme or exceptional drought, raising concerns about an active wildfire season. The program includes two levels: Wildfire Prepared Home and Wildfire Prepared Home Plus, focusing on reducing risks from wind-driven embers and direct flame contact.
