Montana anticipates typical wildfire season this spring
According to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), Montana is preparing for a typical wildfire season this spring. The state had a mild winter with little snowpack, but consistent rainfall since the previous fall has helped to reduce some of the higher fire risks. Several substantial fires broke out in early March as a result of unusually dry, warm, and windy conditions. However, forecasts for April predict a more balanced combination of cool, wet weather with occasional warm and dry spells. This weather pattern is predicted to keep fire potential in the region normal through June, with no significant changes expected.
