Normal fire season predicted despite early risks
The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) has released its spring wildfire forecast for the Northern Rockies, predicting a normal fire season despite early indicators suggesting heightened risk. The forecast indicates that major wildfire activity is not anticipated, though this is not a guarantee. The region experienced dry, warm, and windy conditions that led to several large fires in early March. However, the forecast suggests that upcoming cool and wet weather, interspersed with warm and dry spells, will contribute to a typical fire season for April.
