Houston prepares for heavy rain, flooding risk
Houston is preparing for a weekend of heavy rainfall and potential localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and places with poor drainage. The Houston Chronicle reports that while the chance of severe weather is low, there is a small risk of damaging wind gusts during thunderstorms. The morning and early afternoon are expected to be relatively calm, with temperatures rising to the upper 70s°F (around 25°C) by noon. However, the chance of rain will increase significantly in the late afternoon, particularly north of Interstate 10, as thunderstorms approach from the northwest.
