Autosun saves sailors in daring Bay rescue
In a daring rescue operation in the Bay of Biscay, the vehicle carrier Autosun successfully saved four individuals from a sailboat struggling against strong northerly winds and high swells, ranging from 3 to 4 meters. The Spanish and French Maritime Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCC) played a crucial role in coordinating the effort. The Autosun strategically altered its course to create a lee, reducing the distressed boat's motion and providing sheltered waters for the rescue. The crew skillfully used a pilot ladder to transfer the sailors to safety, after which a French rescue helicopter airlifted them to shore for medical evaluation.
