The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii has erupted, spewing lava fountains exceeding 200 meters in height. The eruption, which began around 11 a.m. local time, has already produced an estimated 3.6 million cubic yards of lava, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an ashfall warning for the southeastern region of Big Island, effective until midnight local time, advising residents and visitors to take precautions against respiratory irritation and property damage.
