Morocco agriculture rebounds after wettest season
Morocco's agricultural sector is experiencing a significant upswing following unusually heavy rainfall during the 2025-2026 winter, marking one of the wettest seasons in four decades. Rainfall in regions like Tangier has reached nearly 1,300 mm, dramatically improving agricultural prospects. Dam reservoir levels have nearly doubled, ensuring a more secure water supply for irrigation, and vast expanses of central and northern Morocco have transformed from dry terrain into fertile farmland. The Ministry of Agriculture anticipates that cereal production will more than double compared to the previous year, which was severely impacted by drought.
