Following a particularly severe Kona storm, Honolulu's Crisis Outreach Response and Engagement (CORE) program has been actively assisting the island's unsheltered population. The storm, more intense than previous events, prompted CORE to relocate over 40 individuals to shelters between Thursday and Saturday. Since its expansion in 2021, CORE now comprises 35 professionals, including nurse practitioners and EMTs, operating in 12-hour shifts to aid vulnerable individuals, many of whom reside in low-lying areas.
