Severe Weather Threat Overnight in Houston and Southeast Texas
US · Published May 11, 2026
The Houston area and Southeast Texas are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 5 a.m.
Monday, as a strong line of storms moves through the region.
According to the National Weather Service, these storms could bring wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail as large as ping pong balls, and isolated tornadoes.

Why It's Important?

Residents in Houston and surrounding areas should prepare for potential impacts, including downed trees, power outages, and localized damage from hail and wind. While the tornado risk is relatively low, isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out, particularly in areas north and west of Houston. Heavy downpours may occur, but the storms are expected to move quickly enough to limit widespread flooding. Frequent lightning poses additional risks, especially for outdoor activities or unprotected structures.
