IMD Issues Orange Alert for Five Regions Amid Severe Weather Risks
IN · Published Oct 26, 2026
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for five regions, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and moderate to intense rainfall.
• The affected areas include parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Haryana, Kerala, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh.

Impact & Risks

The orange alert indicates potentially severe weather conditions that could disrupt daily activities, travel, and outdoor work. Gusty winds of up to 60 kmph may displace loose objects and cause tree branches to fall, posing risks to pedestrians and vehicles. Thunderstorms and lightning increase the likelihood of power outages and damage to infrastructure. Moderate to intense rainfall may lead to waterlogging and localised flooding, particularly in areas with poor drainage. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution, as slippery roads and reduced visibility could lead to accidents.
