• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported favourable conditions for the formation of a low-pressure area over the south-eastern Bay of Bengal and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on 23rd October.
• This system is expected to move west-north-west and intensify into a depression by 27th October over the central Bay of Bengal.

Impact & Risks

The forecasted weather system is likely to bring light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms to Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema over the next three days. Some areas may experience heavy downpours, which could lead to localised flooding and disruptions. If the system intensifies into a cyclonic storm, it may pose significant risks to coastal regions, including strong winds, heavy rainfall, and potential damage to infrastructure. Residents in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha should remain vigilant as the system develops.
