• The Southwest monsoon has progressed into additional regions of eastern and southern India, including Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
• Heavy to very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm) has been recorded in Assam, with significant rainfall also observed in coastal Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu.

Impact & Risks

Heavy rainfall in Assam and other northeastern states may lead to localised flooding and waterlogging. Thunderstorms with strong winds pose risks to infrastructure and transportation in affected areas such as Rajasthan, Telangana, and Odisha. Heat wave conditions in Telangana and Vidarbha could impact vulnerable populations, while hot and humid weather in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Odisha may cause discomfort. Farmers in rain-affected regions are advised to secure crops and ensure proper drainage.
