The rainfall deficit has affected 175 of Karnataka's 240 taluks, raising concerns about water availability for drinking, agriculture, and livestock. Cloud seeding is expected to recharge local water bodies and support dryland farming ahead of the summer season. However, the success of the operation depends on the presence of suitable clouds and atmospheric conditions. Previous attempts recorded a success rate of 18–20%, and the government is targeting a higher rate this time.
