The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and CivicDataLab to enhance its disaster management system.
The partnerships aim to create a more data-driven, scientific, and technology-enabled framework for disaster risk assessment, preparedness, and decision-making.

Impact & Risks

The upgraded disaster management system is expected to significantly improve Odisha's ability to prepare for and respond to natural disasters, particularly cyclones and floods. By focusing on anticipatory action and risk assessment, the initiative aims to reduce casualties and property damage. Vulnerable coastal districts will benefit from targeted data collection and enhanced preparedness measures, while the entire state will gain from improved disaster resilience and planning.
