• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across several parts of India on Friday, October 30,
• These conditions are influenced by the remnants of Cyclone Arnab, which weakened after crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast. Northern regions, including Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh, are expected to experience thunderstorms, hailstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h. Bihar may see extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations, while heavy to very heavy rain is anticipated in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Additionally, a separate low-pressure system over the south Andaman Sea is predicted to develop into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal in the coming days, further contributing to rainfall activity in eastern and southern India.

Impact & Risks

The forecasted weather conditions pose risks of localized flooding, travel disruptions, and potential damage from hailstorms and gusty winds. Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are particularly vulnerable to extremely heavy rainfall, which could lead to waterlogging and hazardous road conditions. Thunderstorms and squally winds in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may impact maritime activities. Northern regions, including Delhi and surrounding areas, could face challenges due to hailstorms and strong winds, which may affect infrastructure and outdoor activities. Residents in affected areas should remain alert to changing weather conditions and follow official advisories.
