Severe cold and dense fog have gripped North India, including Delhi-NCR, causing significant travel disruptions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility in some areas, including Delhi, dropped to as low as 50 metres.

Impact & Risks

The dense fog and low visibility have caused major disruptions to transportation in Delhi-NCR. Passengers travelling by train have faced delays of up to 6.5 hours, while flights at Delhi Airport are also being affected, especially those not equipped with advanced navigation systems. The reduced visibility poses risks for road users, increasing the likelihood of accidents. The cold weather further exacerbates the situation, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those without adequate shelter.
