• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain and thunderstorms in Delhi today, with unsettled weather expected to persist over the next few days. The southwest monsoon remains active over north India, but conditions are becoming favourable for its withdrawal from parts of west Rajasthan around September
• Rainfall activity is expected across several regions of India this week, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and parts of northeast India. Heavy rainfall warnings are in place for isolated locations in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Kerala, Punjab, Saurashtra, Kutch, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

Impact & Risks

Delhi residents may experience disruptions due to light rain and thunderstorms today, with unsettled weather persisting until September 17. Heavy rainfall in other parts of India, such as northeast states and coastal regions, could lead to localised flooding and travel delays. The monsoon season has been below normal overall, with a 15% rainfall deficit recorded from June 1 to September 13, particularly affecting southern peninsular and eastern India.
