A strong cold-topped Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) is advancing eastward across the Midwest, bringing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to eastern Nebraska (NE) and western Iowa (IA) [WPC Met Watch, 13 Aug 2026].
The system is fueled by ejecting shortwave energy, elevated instability with MUCAPE values of 1000 to 2000 J/kg, and precipitable water (PW) levels near 2 inches.
