• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts for isolated thunderstorms and lightning over East Madhya Pradesh on 7th October
• Additionally, East India is expected to experience isolated to scattered rainfall across regions including Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from 3rd to 9th October. Jharkhand is likely to see rainfall between 5th and 9th October, while Bihar may experience similar conditions from 6th to 9th October. Minimum temperatures as of 3rd October were markedly above normal (>5.1°C) in isolated areas of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam & Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, East Uttar Pradesh, and West Uttar Pradesh.

Impact & Risks

The forecasted thunderstorms and rainfall may lead to localised disruptions in East Madhya Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and other parts of East India. Residents in these areas should be cautious of potential waterlogging and slippery roads due to rainfall. The above-normal minimum temperatures in several regions could lead to discomfort, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.
