Heat Advisory and Strong Storms Expected in Central Florida
US · Published Jun 19, 2026
Central Florida is under a heat advisory today, with dangerous heat index values and the potential for strong afternoon and evening storms.
According to WESH, temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-90s°F (mid-30s°C), with 'feels-like' temperatures reaching between 105°F and 110°F (40°C to 43°C) due to high humidity.

Why It's Important?

The extreme heat poses a significant risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for those spending extended periods outdoors. Vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions, are at higher risk. Afternoon and evening storms could bring gusty winds of 50-60 mph, which may trigger severe thunderstorm warnings. While hail and tornado risks are considered low, localized flooding from heavy downpours is possible. Beachgoers should also exercise caution, as conditions may change rapidly.
