The higher reaches of Gulmarg and Gurez in Jammu and Kashmir experienced the season's first snowfall on Thursday, 17 September
Overnight snow blanketed areas such as Gondola Phase 2 and Apharwat in Gulmarg, located in Baramulla district, while Gurez in Bandipora district also saw snowfall. The plains of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, were lashed by rain during the night. The snowfall has added to the scenic charm of these tourist destinations, signalling the arrival of colder weather in the region.
