IN · Published Nov 4, 2026
• Cyclone Murasu has triggered torrential rains across four districts in Andhra Pradesh—Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, and Prakasam—causing widespread agricultural damage.
• Heavy rainfall, with Edlapadu mandal recording 291 mm in 24 hours, has led to overflowing streams, rivulets, and irrigation drains, submerging vast stretches of farmland.

Impact & Risks

The floods have caused significant losses to farmers in the affected districts, particularly those cultivating cotton, chilli, and paddy. These crops are highly vulnerable to waterlogging, and many have been completely destroyed. The inundation of agricultural fields has left farmers struggling to recover from the financial losses, especially as they were still reeling from the impact of Cyclone Arnab. The prolonged waterlogging in low-lying areas could lead to further crop damage if drainage is delayed. Additionally, the flooding has disrupted local communities, with villages and farmlands submerged under water.
