The National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center has issued Mesoscale Precipitation Discussion #1089, highlighting the potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding across parts of the Midwest and Ohio Valley.
Slow-moving thunderstorms are developing along a frontal boundary in southern Iowa, with scattered storms also forming in central Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

Impact & Risks

The affected areas include parts of southern Iowa, central Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Flash flooding is possible, especially in regions with saturated soils and low flash flood guidance thresholds. Rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour and totals exceeding 3 inches could lead to scattered instances of flooding. The risk is heightened in areas that have experienced extreme rainfall in the past week, where flash flood guidance is below 2 inches per hour. (Source: WPC Met Watch)
