CSSIF is expected to address critical climate vulnerabilities across India, including the Himalayan region, coastal zones, and arid areas. By enhancing climate-smart practices, the initiative aims to improve agricultural productivity, water resource management, and public health outcomes. It also seeks to mitigate socio-economic impacts of extreme weather events, which currently cost India an estimated 2–5% of GDP annually. However, challenges such as data-user interface gaps, resource constraints, and inter-ministerial coordination may hinder its effectiveness.
