According to a report from The Indian Express, Naina Subberwal Batra, CEO of AVPN, emphasized the importance of funding climate adaptation technologies, particularly in addressing heat stress in India.
AVPN, Asia's largest network of social investors, has been working on innovative solutions to mitigate the effects of extreme heat in informal settlements.

Why It's Important?

The impacts of extreme heat are particularly severe in informal settlements across India, where poor housing conditions exacerbate heat stress. Vulnerable populations, including women and children, face heightened risks of heat-related illnesses. The lack of adequate infrastructure and resources in these areas makes them more susceptible to the adverse effects of rising temperatures. Programs like HeatWise Women aim to mitigate these risks by providing targeted support and innovative solutions, such as heat-repellent paint and AI-driven heat mapping. However, the need for greater funding and coordination remains critical to scaling these efforts and addressing the growing challenges posed by climate change.
