Urban flooding disrupts essential services, damages property, and increases exposure to waterborne diseases. Vulnerable populations in densely populated cities are particularly at risk. AI-driven solutions can mitigate these impacts by enabling early warnings, optimising resource allocation, and improving drainage systems. However, the effectiveness of these systems depends on robust data infrastructure, reliable communication networks, and public trust in AI-generated forecasts. Without these, the potential benefits of AI in reducing flood risks may not be fully realised.
