Kolkata experienced an unusual 11°C drop in maximum temperature following two days of continuous rainfall.
The maximum temperature fell to 23.2°C on Saturday, 11°C below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 19.2°C, 4.4°C below normal.

Impact & Risks

The sudden temperature drop has brought a winter-like chill to Kolkata and South Bengal, affecting daily life and potentially causing health issues for vulnerable populations. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms may lead to waterlogging and disruptions in districts such as Jhargram, East Midnapore, and North 24 Parganas. Agricultural activities could also face challenges due to excess moisture.
