• Cyclone Arnab, which made landfall between Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts on October 28, has weakened into a cyclonic storm.
• The system is indirectly impacting Kolkata and South Bengal, bringing light to moderate rainfall.

Impact & Risks

The weakening cyclone is causing light to moderate rainfall in Kolkata and surrounding areas, with isolated heavy spells possible in South Bengal districts. North Bengal is also expected to receive rain. While the storm's intensity has reduced, its outer bands are still influencing the region's weather. Wind speeds during landfall ranged from 125 kmph to 135 kmph, gusting up to 150 kmph, but have since dropped to 70-80 kmph. No major hazards are anticipated in Kolkata, though localised flooding in vulnerable areas cannot be ruled out.
