Incessant rainfall over the past three days has severely disrupted normal life in Odisha's Koraput district.
On Sunday alone, the district recorded a total rainfall of 968.2 mm, with an average of 69.16 mm across its 14 blocks.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall has led to waterlogging, disrupted traffic, and affected business activities across Koraput district. Rising river levels pose a significant risk of flooding in low-lying areas, potentially displacing residents and damaging property. The situation is particularly concerning for communities near the Indravati, Saberi, and Kolab rivers, where tributaries are also swelling. Emergency services are on high alert to address potential evacuations and provide relief.
