• The Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow has issued an orange alert, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, occasionally touching 50 kmph. Additionally, hailstorms are possible in parts of western Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Delhi experienced overnight rainfall, which brought relief from air pollution, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) improving to the 'satisfactory' category. The change in weather conditions across northern India has been attributed to the remnants of severe cyclonic storm Arnab interacting with a western disturbance.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Uttar Pradesh have caused waterlogging in several areas, including Ghaziabad and Prayagraj, disrupting daily life. Strong winds and hailstorms may pose risks to infrastructure, crops, and transportation in affected districts. Residents in areas under the orange alert, such as Kushinagar, Maharajganj, and Siddharthnagar, should remain cautious of potential flooding and damage from gusty winds. In Delhi, the rainfall has temporarily improved air quality, reducing health risks associated with pollution.
