The heavy rainfall is expected to cause waterlogging, a sudden rise in river and stream levels, slippery roads, and potential disruptions to transport and power supply. Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are particularly at risk. The Met office has also warned of thunderstorms and lightning, which could pose additional hazards to people outdoors. The state has already recorded a 2% deficit in seasonal rainfall, with some areas like Kanpur Nagar experiencing significant rainfall recently, including 59.4 mm at Kanpur Airforce station.
