US · Published Oct 6, 2026
• The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a coastal flood advisory for Los Angeles County beaches, including Long Beach, Malibu, Zuma Beach, and Catalina Island.
• The advisory is in effect from Wednesday, October 7, at 6 a.m.

Impact & Risks

The advisory highlights potential risks to vulnerable low-lying areas, including moderate flooding and beach erosion. Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers face increased risks of ocean drowning due to rip currents and elevated surf. Small boats nearshore may also be at risk of capsizing. Additionally, flooding could disrupt access to beach parking lots, bike paths, and harbor walkways. While isolated damage is unlikely, it remains possible in the most vulnerable areas. Residents and visitors are urged to exercise caution and avoid hazardous conditions.
